    Listening to Company Conference Calls

I will be the first to admit that I do not always keep track of some of the stocks I own the way I should. However, I did take some time to listen to Blackstones call that happened about a month or more ago. It was pretty informative with regards to credit liquidity, China and other macro issues. I ended up buying some more shares after listening to it but even if you have no intention of buying a stock some of these calls from companies that do business around the world are pretty informative.

The shippers are the conference calls to listen to. CSX, FDX, UPS they will give us the real feel of the economy. Companies like NKE will tell us about the consumer worldwide. Unlike gov'ts around the world, companies can't cook the books. Regardless of where the stockmarket is today, CSX warned of a weakening economy in their last call.
