    Question about wiring

    My 1996 Champion with a Johnson 150 Faststrike got invaded by a pack-rat this past winter. A lot of the wires were chewed through, the biggest was the cable that runs from the starter battery to the motor. I need to replace it. Any idea on where to find a replacement? I have found some generic cables that should work, but I don't know for sure what gauge I need.

    Also several of the other wires were chewed through; gas tank, nav light, etc. Any idea what gauge those wires are? Thanks.

    Battery cables may be 4 ga.
    14 gauge for lights, pumps and senders.

    I think the harness wires are 18ga. The red wire from the battery to the console is 14ga, but it it needs replacing, I would use 12. ChampioNman can weigh in on the starter cable.
