How far up the trolling motor shaft do you mount the transduser from the motor? I'm running a motorguide if that matters.
Thanks

It will be easy to move later, so I dont think it is all that critical. If you see shadowing from the motor, move it up some. Ive seen pics with the PS31 mounted right down at the bottom of the shaft. I would think you would want the PS21 a little higher, but havent tried it.

I have seen where some people have drilled a hole in the fin and mounted the PS21 on the fin under the motor or on the side of the motor barrel. The PS21 comes with both mounts. Ive also seen the PS31 mounted in front of the fin on the bottom.
A couple things I forgot to mention: First, be sure you mount it on the 'up' side when it is stowed. And the angle is easy to adjust but the more shallow you fish, the less down angle you want on the transducer. I have changed the angle slightly when fishing different lakes.

Are you talking about the 31 or the 21? With either one - how close to horizontal have you tried it?
On the PS21, there are notches in the mounting bracket that limit you to certain angles with no fine adjustment. It can go straight horizontal or one notch down, 2 notches down etc. The first notch is 15 degrees and the second is 30 deg. The PS21 manual doesnt mention going beyond 30 deg - notch 2 and I havent tried it more than notch 2 yet. I was going to try straight horizontal, but the manual says it should be tilted is down for optimum imagery.
Larry, I guess I have the BETA testing version of the mounting bracket on the PS-21. It has numerous notches for adjustment. I would guess I have mine on the third notch right now. I didn't really count, just pointed it in what I thought would be the correct angle.
