Coach, I don't think you nor I are getting good images. You are in 10' of water and hardly moving. This would make a big difference especially for DV.

Unfortunately, I'm getting about the same images at 3-4 mph in 20-25 fow.

I have given up on Garmin's SV/DV and only use Panoptix.....

Didn't you have a bad transducer, got a replacement and sold it without trying it?

You def need to increase speed

Please tell me what is so wrong with this image? I need to understand what makes you guys say that Garmin SV and DV is so far bellow other brands.
maybe my lack of experience with SV but i don't see the problem.
I have experience with Humminbird DV and i don't see a difference with Garmin, the fish are always dots.
Post screenshots of your ideal DV & SV to give me an idea.

    thanks

Looks fine to me for the speed. It's not gen3 or onix quality but it's just as good as helix

Do I need to increase the speed of the boat or the sonar ? I have my setting for slow. Should I change it?

you have it set right for slow boat speed then. set it for auto if you can and increase boat speed to 4-5 mph and see how the images look then

Pretty difficult to go 4-5 mph with a trolling motor

Those pics look fine for a $1200 Echomap unit.

I would expect better from a $2500 GPSmap is all I am saying

One of my friend fishes fast but your right it's hard to stay at 3 to 4 mph while fishing with the trolling motor.

I always have my screen speeds on max. I dont see a difference in images compared to boat speed.

put it on auto then. where did he say what unit he has? why would he be using a non chirp gt20 on a gpsmap unit? I know my 7612 gets much better images than that sitting still. maybe you're like monte and have a bad transducer? boat speed with def make a difference in images. higher speed will stretch returns while slow speed with compress them

I am using the GT20 for traditional and I am waiting for GT8 to come out. I am also running the GVC 10 with the black box and I think the transducer is the GT30..

i see the same trees and fish you do. not sure what the complaint is. downvue could be better but di is never at its best at slow speeds the garmin units seem to prefer higher speeds than others. i couldnt find any downvu images from the gt8 but i found these
