I would take that motor in a heartbeat. If someone told me it was ugly, I'd say I don't give a sh%t what you think.

Anyone that would own a wart hog from hell SHO that calls the G2 ugly... The only dealings I have had was as a marshal for Koby Kreiger at BassFest last year. Great holeshot and ran REALLY well...I saw 74.7 on his GPS. What impressed me the most is that when I went to load it on the trailer...I couldn't even tell that it had started it was so quiet!!

They are starting to show up. Go to the Phoenix board there are a few of them in there with them.

I've seen several color combinations that I hated, and several that look really sharp. Guess that's why they make 400 combinations. Saw Scott Martin the other day with a black and white combo on a silver boat. Very clean looking.

As much as I hate evinrude... I like that motor, It had some major issues but 7 year warranty is a hell of a deal. Tell me this about it though for real, its so great on gas over the old evinrude but Is it better than the pro xs. Ive yet to see or hear anything about gas vs a pro xs. People blow up mercs all the time still and im sure the new pro xs 4 stroke or whatever it is they are working on is going to blow up as well. But when Yamaha and merc release their new models it will probably put that G2 to shame, Even though I like Merc the best I really feel yamahas next motor will ground breaking like they did with the SHO.

The G2 should have a good holeshot. It's geared lower than the competition with a 1.85 lower unit ratio. Mercury and Yamaha have a 1.75 gear. That's almost 2" of pitch difference.

That has pretty much been the brands standard gear ratio for ever.

Yep. But many don't understand it means you can't compare motors with the same pitch prop. Pitch must be compensated A 1.85 with a 27" pitch is equivalent to a 1.75 with a 25" pitch and a 1.62 with a 23" pitch. The higher the lower gear number, the better the holeshot with the same prop but the slower the top speed.

Actually yamaha 150s have a 2.0 gear ratio.
