    Question....

So I have a question that may start up a debate, but I am wanting to get some more professional and experienced answers to this. I am currently looking at replacing a 150 Mercury with another one. I am debating between staying with the XR6 (getting a new power head) or trying to find an Optimax in "good" shape.

Therefore, brings me to my question.... XR6 vs Optimax???

Which would you go with? And why?

    Thanks in advance!

Yeah, going to FI will get you more miles per tank. Even an XRI will get you somewhat better economy. It all really depends on your wallet

EFI and CARB consumed "almost" identical amounts of fuel, rigged and setup on the same boat.

EFI started easier... and ran better at higher elevations.

IMHO- move up to something more modern (like an Optimax). Better economy... and a heck of a lot easier to start.

It sounds like a resounding yes to the Optimax. So now I will ask this...

Is it possible to get an Optimax or even an EFI powerhead for my XR6? To directly bolt on?

And the Optimax Powerhead will not fit under a Carb/EFI cowling.
