3 1/2" strip of 16oz marine carpet glued to the top of each bunk, then wrap the complete bunks with 16 or 20oz marine carpet of your choice. Use stainless steel staples and fold in and enclose the ends underneath.

Bass Cat has 24 OZ carpet but you'll have to cut it to size.
I have used the 16 oz carpet from pontoonstuff.com and it held up well and it's already cut into strips.
I just put Gatorbak on my current boat trailer and will never go back to carpet. They're worth a look.

Those are cheap , very thin and will not last long. Yes I've seen them up close.

I like to use the extra heavy duty runner carpet from Lowes-- it has ridges about every two inches. I leave the bottom of the bunk uncovered so the water drains. and use stainless or monel staples.

Gatorbak is the way to go. The carpet stays wet quite a long time subjecting your boat to damp conditions which overtime will cause blisters.

Here is a picture of my carpet after two years of use and my trailer with the Gatorbaks installed. They are awesome. No need to power load. Pull it on the trailer and crank it the last foot with ease!

If you will buy them for me I will try them out for you and get back to you in two years. Meanwhile, my less-than-two-year carpet job is fraying on the ends.
I would like to know if the boat will slide off the trailer when backing up without the bow strap connected. I wouldn't particularly like that.

Gator Bak here also. Doesn't slide. Grippy when dry. Only wanted to do it once.

At least 24 ounce carpet. You can get it from Cat or C&O Marine may have it. The carpet on my 2008 Cat still looked like new last spring when the wooden bunks needed replaced.

Think Cat now offers some sort of new material that's supposed to be like the Gator material.

No carpet! It will eventually cause blisters on a fiberglass boat and pitting on an aluminum boat unless you pick your boat up off of bunks to dry.May not matter if you trade boats every few yrs to you,but someone will own a boat that has blisters where it sat on carpet. If I bought a new boat, the first thing I would do is get rid of the carpet.

Yes I am in process of redoing my trailer and Gator bunk is best approach. Hull blisters arise from wet carpet up against the gel coat.
