    Longest Day Ride

What is your longest day ride. Last Friday I did a 500+ mile ride. Makes for a pretty good day in the saddle. I know that some here have accomplished IRON BUTT status and find that quite impressive after having done the 500. I had done the one way portions of this trip before and that was the longest I have ever done .

I rode in a parade today. That ride has exhausted me worse than any road trip I've been on.

Multiple rides from here in SW Ohio to my mom's in NY...700 miles. One ride from north FL to here with a side trip to Marysville TN...approx. 825 miles. And one 500+ mile day from Waterford CT trying to catch the group we were riding with...caught them in Allentown PA. All these are one day rides but they weren't comfortable, scenic rides...they were get there or get home as quickly as possible.

Those are some pretty good day trips. I don't think you can put down much over 300 miles in a day and call it a comfortable scenic ride. Mine was a day trip to visit my fathers grave and see his stone that was just placed.

1064 miles. Grand Haven Michigan, to Grand Haven Michigan around Lake Michigan. did it a 2nd time also that was a tad shorter. it's a long day. first time took around 18 hours. I rode it w/ my dad, we both have Harley's. it's miserable but at the end you will appreciate the effort.

That's an Iron Butt ride. Also did back to back 650+ days coming back from Sturgis one year. Not sure I can put those days in right now, though.

I ran into a couple of buys in a Georgia rest area riding their Harleys from Chicago down to Speed Week in Daytona Beach the middle of March. They had icicles on their beards, and had to be completely miserable.

We also ran into a couple of guys in East Tennessee riding up the Ocoee River in September. They picked up two new Ducati performance bikes in California and were riding coast to coast. Their bikes were a little sporty for such an odyssey.

Coast to Coast on a sport bike. Only if you were about 20 years old.

649 in 7.5 hrs. includes gas and food stops no windshield. Oct of 1982 just the facts.

Took about 2 hrs after I stopped that I didn't feel like I was still on the bike.

FL house (Lake Placid) to East TN home 764 miles in 13.5 hours... There are alot of factors that determine how long to ride in a day. Weather, tourist sites, traffic, size of the group, passenger, etc.... The most in one day was 1100 from Desmoine to Central, Maryland in 19 hours mostly in the rain and that sucked big time but chose to make the added mileage because the weather front we rode thru was following us and we did not want to ride in the rain anymore. I have over 300,000 miles on bikes and avaerade about 500 per day when making time and about 350 when visiting sites between two places.

I would have to do a few trips of some distance to go much more than 10 hours of seat time. My ass was toast at about 8 hrs.
