I have hundreds of these on my work van, I do low voltage wiring, have used these lots of times for fasting transducer cables to the transom, but it never crossed my mind to do that

    Thanks for the cool idea.

Did a couple of mine today that didn't have hook keepers. Works perfect...what a great idea! Cut the tag off flush with a razor blade...no sharp edges and easier than sanding.
    Thanks bilgerat!

Been doing that for years, works great, a slight mod. will make it perfect for drop shot rigs too. Using a pair of dikes cut a slight piece out of circle and you can slide the line thru and the drop shot sinker will snug up against it. Makes storing the drop shot a whole new deal.

I use something similar. I use a small regular zip tie through a stainless split ring, seems not to stick out so far.

    Follow up -

I had cut a notch out of the loop to make it easier to slip a T Rigged bait into the keeper, and it works well for treble hooks too. This is the original keeper from the beginning. I'm well into the season and there's no signs of it weakening, bending or anything like that. The tape I wrapped around the blank is showing it's age, I'll probably have to cut the tie off and start over before next year. I'll probably do a wrap of black shrink tube (I'll have to slit it lengthwise first obviously) and then put another tie on. If it weren't for that I'm sure it would have survived a long time.

The ones I put on my muskie rods are holding up superbly! Thanks again for the tip.

Fine idea. Re cut off sharp edges... Touch a flame near the end. That will round the edges off neatly.

man smart idea! ive been wanting to add a hook keeper to a couple of my rods, i dont like the aftermarket ones as they are too bulky and i really don't want to wrap one on in case i wanna change its positioning.
keep your lines wet! God bless

Thanks for sharing the tips...bought a 100 pack on ebay...great for drop shots when modified as suggested and nice to be able to put the hook keeper where you want it on the rod...

Thanks bassman81 for the tip and follow-up. Going to use this next year and share the concept with my buddies.
