    296 running pic

For you guys that have never seen a 296 heres a pic, this pic running around 71 ish at 5500,with no plate straight to the transom, with a 27 tempest on a 200 opti,I think a 25 would be a better prop, but keeping the rs below the 5750 on the opti is tough.
And with a 200 proxs you should see 2 mph .
Stick a 8 inch plate and you will be at 75 easy.
Also this test is with 2 guys and a full tank of gas.

Re: 296 running pic (TOUCH OF CLASS)

    Good Compliment to the 195.

For a long time the 296 was the boat I wanted. Then I found my current 596.

I have this exact boat with a 25 Tempest on it and i cannot get anything over 65mph with 1 man and 1/2 tank of gas.... is there something you recommend or is the 27 the answer? The R's are at 5750 with this prop on.

What is the prop to pad measurement and is your prop stock?

Prop blueprinting is the key....a bad tempest will be anywhere from 3 to 6 mph slower than a perfect
one.We have seen low 60s with a bad prop and mid 70s with a good prop on the same rig.

The prop is stock yes. I would have to get the dimensions from prop to pad. Everything is factory though. Wonder who in the OKC area will blueprint the prop.. and the cost? Also.. can a jack plate be put on this boat? Somewhere at one time.. somebody told me that charged didnt recommend putting a jackplate on this model of boat?

Yes you can put a plate...8 inch is all the 296 needs and a good tempest..
Send your prop to croxton hes on the prop board...fill the form out and tell him you need the
Charger blueprint he will dial it in.

Add a plate and have Croxton work your prop if you can. You'll not regret it.

The pro xs stickers are kinda like chrome air cleaner and chrome valve covers its fasterBut in the real world
the pro xs is not a pro xs it does not have fiber reeds, higher fuel rail psi ,6000 rpms limiter .It would be a bad ass 200 if it was a pro xs.

It has been a long time since I rode in a 296. How does it compare to the 195? I am sure it is better than my 186.

The 296 is an awesome boat and exactly what I wanted for a long time. Just feels a bit skinny when compared to a 396. I'd still love to have one though.
