    Well, I may br screwed...

For a while anyways. Finished hooking up the trailer to the truck this morning on my way to the lake and as I walked around the back of the truck and stepped over the trailer tongue my foot caught on the safety cable and I did a full on shoulder plant into the concrete floor. Heard a crunching sound as I hit. It was one of those "Help Me I can't get up" Moments. Funny what you think about on the way to the ground and then once you're on it!

Hurt like hell. Couldn't and still can't move my arm. Had the tingling and numbness too. Hung around the house for a few hours hoping it would work itself out. I didn't, so off to the ER I went. After a check up and x-ray (no broken bone) it looks like a torn rotator cuff. Sucks, because no casting, and the job is on hold because I drive a tractor trailer, tough to shift!

So, I'll put my sling on, take my Advil and muscle relaxants and wait until morning to see a Doctor and find out what the next three months or so hold!

(Why couldn't it be a freaking leg injury or something? At least then I could still fish while healing up! Hmmm, Maybe I'll spent some time practicing casting with my left arm!)

Rotator cuffs can be tough....I've had quite a few major injuries and my shoulders seem to be the toughest to get back into shape..

You have my sympathy. Trailers and hitches are dangerous, so is getting out of a boat. I took a header once onto a rocky shore as I stepped out of the boat and my foot caught on the gunwale. That kind of stuff happens so fast.

Yep, you will be a member of the shoulder crew.

Good thing it wasn't a leg, I had a boss that wouldn't give me time off for the 2 weeks I was on crutches. He said " you never use a clutch anyway".

I have problems launching by myself, due to prosthetic hip and knee. If I go down, I can easily dislocate them. Good healing, I've battled the rotator cup injury before. Don't rush it.

I have pictured in my mind several ways to make loading up safer. Ideas include a step system with hand rail, a retractable ramp etc. I'm just too stupid and lazy to get rich making it. Hope you recover soon!

Dang ... get well soon. I remember once at a very slippery ramp by myself when my feet went out from under me while pulling up the boat. My feet slipped and my lower leg hit under the trailer tongue. Bleed...oh my. Just sat there and almost passed out. Still have the mark 20 years later

I ripped the labrum off both of my shoulders a year apart. When you do that you cannot lift the arm at all. It can be fixed. Good luck.

Lol. No, but it would have been a good one no doubt. I'll bet that it might have registered on some seismograph somewhere. It sure felt like I hit the ground hard enough. I've got a Doctors appointment Wednesday. I'm not looking forward to what he'll have to say. I'm also not looking forward to the loss of income with not being able to drive. Gotta figure out what to do about that.
