I need to replace the steering cable on a 1987 162 V fox fire. If any one has done this I am wondering what size to order. I have not removed the bad one because I am still fishing but just measuring it seem like it would be a 10 ft cable. The shortest cable I find to order is a 11ft teleflex. Or do I need to get it from a charger dealer of witch there is not one in the state I am in. As they said in the field of dreams " It ain't heaven it's Iowa " Thanks for any help.
I'd call Charger for the correct size. No mistakes that way.

could be very possible on that boat that the manufacturer of the steering system is no loner in business.. My 195 is a 91 model and that was the case with it. i had to put in a new helm along with the cables (dual cable)

Thanks for the help. Called charger and got tne new cable. Then the fun began! Lack the clearence to get the old one out and new one in without moving the motor. Thankyou for the replys they were all helpfull!!!
