    From Diehl11

First is the Helix 9 DI GPS, Second is the Helix 10 SI GPS.

This is the inside of the new cover. Much sturdier, heavier and better than the Onix. It's almost difficult to remove it.

So, Doug it's finally here. I want a 12" screen for the bow, but wonder if the Onix 10 at the dash will synch with the Helix? Also, will the Helix be able to cross talk to other units, IE: 1199 etc. Is the Onix system on hold? I know your hands are tied, but those of us waiting for the next best thing, have committed to Onix, and I love that 12' screen on the Helix, with a 1K lower price WOW, that seems like a deal.

    Doug,
I'm looking to add a 3rd (and perhaps a forth) unit to my boat. Please share details on what is shared between HELIX and ONIX across the network.
Map Sharing (like Onix)? No, answered elsewhere
    Heading Sensor sharing (like Onix)?
2D SI DI 360 sharing (like Onix)?

also, how does the 360 SI DI compare between Onix and Helix?

Anyone with chirp images from the 12 inch unit yet?

Also same Di as core series units with no dedicated crystal right?

I haven't seen a 12 yet, not sure where production is on them. The DI is the same as the core units, which is to say it does not have a dedicated crystal with the HDSI transducer.

The Helix will only share waypoints with another Helix. You can also subscribe to other transducers in the network. For what I've been told that's it for now. I don't have an Onix anymore so I can't test at this time, but I bet Doug will be able to fill in the blanks.

In my opinion the Helix is just an evolution of the core units. I think where the Helix shines is screen resolution, size and the big one, brightness. The software is very easy to use and familiar to anyone that has used a Humminbird unit for the last 10 years.

For the price, though, I think HB is offering a lot. And the best part, since it's not a completely new build, we should not see a bunch of initial bugs.

We need more standard and optional transducer info for the 12.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.? ( I've read so much, and the info is scattered everwere,so I can't remember were I saw this) but I believe that a di helix, linked to a si helix will share transducers.(this meens that both units will have dedicated di)

ONIX/ION are alive and well and still the Premier Product Line from Humminbird. Just like Skeeter Boats they sell FX and ZX Series Boats. Both are great products but they don't upgrade all at the same time. HELIX is the Newest Addition and is replacing the CORE Series 600, 800, 900 & 1100 Series Products. HELIX is based off tried and true Humminbird Sonar Technology with some added new features & hardware that also offers more affordability to more anglers. Not every can afford the ONIX or needs all the features of the ONIX. The HELIX will be a great product for them. But if you want the Premier Features, Latest Technology and Highest Detail Level then ONIX is your answer. 2 Great Product Lines with lots of Differences.

Heading out to do more testing. I will see what I can share via Ethernet. I know Map Sharing is not a feature of HELIX to HELIX...done tried that. I'll try more of these features. RC-1 Remote is Compatible. AutoChart LIVE will be a feature of the HELIX 9, 10 & 12.

360 is very good on HELIX but is not as crisp as ONIX. I've got a comparison I did last week that will post next week.

I'll see if I can get any HELIX 12 CHIRP images.

HELIX DI models use dedicated DI Element. HELIX SI models use the Composite DI created from SI Elements. Only the ONIX SI models offer separate DI & SI Elements.

They just announced Product Line-Up Yesterday...more information will be coming soon on features and options. I do know Optional AirMar CHIRP Transducers can be added to the HELIX 12 CHIRP. The HELIX 12 CHIRP is not economy CHIRP but a Broad Bandwidth of Frequencies and more similar to the CHIRP Technology used in the ONIX but is not the same. As I learn more, I will pass on the information.

I will test this today since I have both installed. But I think it's just like the CORE Series if you are using or sharing the SI the DI View will be from the SI Transducer. But if you select the DI Transducer from a DI Unit it will show DI but no SI. I'm going to the water later and will put this on my list of things to try.

Thanks doug.while your out testing, could you get a di shot on your helix si unit, using the DI from the si.Then get the same Di shot, using the same helix si unit, but using the DI transducer from your helix di unit. (I think that would be an interesting comparison shot).once again thanks.

What's the actual screen size, both horizontal and vertical? On the 10 and 12 models.

How do these unit work at night or dusk when regular light settings blind your night vision? I know the Lowrance units have a green night setting. Anything similar with the Helix?
