Replacing gas cly in snap lock pedestals

First of all I would like to thanks Mr Paul Krawczun ( pcnc 19057 ) for walking this throu with me over the phone and loneing me his tool to do the job.
I have found this a very eazy thing to do if you have a bad cylinder in your Swivl-Eze.
The first thing you need to do is get the right tools for the job

This includes a long straight slot screwdriver or someting similer with the end bent to a 45, a good flash light, allen wrench, a phillips screwdriver, a 3/4 socket and a smaller straight slot screwdriver

    1) Take post off boat and remove seat
    2) Remove the plastic locking unit buy prying out carefully

    3) Losen up the allen screw in the seat base 3 or 4 turns is all you need

    4) Flip the post upside down and get your flash light and look in side the post. Now you sill see a clip that clip holds the cylinder to the post.

    5) to remove the clip and this is the hardest part of the hole job take your tool that would have the 45 bent on the end and carefully insert the tool into the side of the clip when done right the clip will slide off the cylinder post and the clip will be able to be reused

    6) Once the clip is removed the seat post can be removed exposing the cylinder
    7) Remove the 4 phillips srew holding the lever that moved the seat up and down

    8) In a vise place the seat base with the cylinder and get your 3/4 inch socket. Place the socket on top of the cylinder and hit with a hammer to drive the cylinder out of the seat base

    9) The cylinder will drop and this is what you should have

Now on the end of the cylinder there will be a washer ,bearing and a thicker rubber washer. Take note how thay are on the cylinder and do not wipe the grease off them

Ok the hard parts are done and its time to put the new clinder back on the seat base. If ya look at the cylinder one end will be taperd the cylinders are made to be pressed on, so for now press it on by hand and the very last thing you will do is sit on it to press it on all the way.
Reinstall as taken apart and after you have sat on your new post make sure you tighten up you allen screw

The pistons can be found on the desk chairs that have the piston, you see them all the time in the trash, same exact piston.
Now get out and get some fishen in.

The best part is the pistons can be found on the desk chairs you see out in the trash all the time.
    Same exact piston.

For some reason my cylinders don't have a removable clip. There's a nut holding it on instead of the clip. When I try to take it off it just spins. Any ideas?

    Thats a good question.
I do not know but you should be able to measure the height and compressed to figure out the stroke and then measure down the pedestal to the clip on the bottom, transfer that measurement to the outside of the pedestal, then measure to the underside of the seat mount +1inch ( for the tapered part of the clyinder that is pressed into seat mount.
