    Verado V"S Opti fuel mileage

What the fuel mileage difference between a 300 Verado and 300xs on same hulls?

Depends on the RPM's at which you're running.

Up to approximately 4800 RPM's... they're very close.

Hammer down.... Opti wins, hands down (despite it's lower displacement, the Verado is Supercharged). Open the gate and cram nearly two atmospheres down it's throat, you have to deliver matching FUEL.

On the Verado models... backing off WOT by approximately 800 RPM's makes a substantial difference in fuel economy.

    agreed!!!!!
less than 4000 Verado is as close as it can be, spool it up and it starts to clear the fuel tank, BUT not like old EFI engines but the opti is a bit better WOT. V rods are better than the others (SHO/Suz/Honda) on my hull around 4500 and about equal at 5000+

Yep, takes HP to spin the blower so you have to add the appropriate amount of fuel for the 300hp and the power it takes to make it via turning the supercharger. Plus a blower motor needs a richer mixture to make max power as compaired to an N/A engine.

Remember that the supercharger is spinning (being driven) at ALL engine RPM's.

Primary fuel economy drop (at higher RPM's) is due to the additional fuel required when manifold pressure exceeds ONE ATMOSPHERE (it's actually capable of up to TWO atmospheres).

Boost control doesn't allow much boost pressure until around 4800-5000 RPM's.
