New upgraded Bow panel for 2014 Z-7

I am having a 1/2" ABS bow panel made for my boat due to the one it came with is a POC. Is there any others that may be interested in getting one? It is going to look close to the New Z18 bow panel without the engraving.Z18_img156672_900.jpg

    Randy,

I called and talked to you about this. You said you did not have it for the Z-7. These pictures are for the Z-21. Do you now have one for the Z-7? Thanks.

I might be interested in this. How would you handle the area that folds down and covers up the top edge of the trolling motor tray (the piece where the trolling motor power plug is)?

The guy that is making me a windshield is going to work on this for me. He plans to Plastiweld two pieces of black ABS together to make that transition. He would weld just the back side so it looks nice on the outside. Then route out what needs to be cut to make a tight fit.

i'd be interested for my z8 depending on price. do you have a rough estimate of cost yet? would it be easier to heat and bend the abs than plastiwelding it?

I'm still interested but would like to know the cost as well. And if you have a mock up yet pictures would be nice. If yours is going to have panels for the depth finder that can be changed out I'd really be into it.

I just spent most of the day making one using 1/2 starboard. I bent the area for the trolling motor pedal but it wasn't fun and took some time to get the bend right. Overall it came out good and it looks a lot better than I thought. I was able to flush mount my 998 which makes me very happy (if I can live with the angle and if the trolling motor steering cable doesn't block it). I'll get some pictures of it tomorrow or Friday once I get it cleaned up and my flush mount kit located.

The standard trolling motor plug in receptacle won't work because the starboard is too thick to mount it from the back side. I had one by a company called Trac which works good but the connector at the trolling motor is a bit bulky. I kept the plug in on the same side to keep the power cables as far from my transducer cable as I can.

Once I got everything in place I realized that since it sits flush, and flush to the deck, I could cut out the trolling motor pedal tray and put in a deeper one. I have a tray here and had it all taped out and lined up but I couldn't bring myself to cut it out. If I hadn't already bent the starboard I probably would have done it. Maybe. That's a pricey repair if I'm wrong.

Oh. I think the Z8/Z9 trolling motor trays are deeper than a Z7 so I'm not sure how you'd want to handle that. All the other sizes should be the same. I have a few bow panels here that I bought from Great Lakes Skipper hoping to flush mount my 998 and I had to cut the trolling motor flap off a bit.

I don't have the cost yet. We will be working on it next week. I will post some pictures as we move along. The idea about bending the ABS is good but I don't know if 1/2" can be bent. I will ask.

I had to hop on a plane unexpectedly for a family emergency and I didn't get any pictures taken. I'll get some once I get home but it might be a week or two.

OK. Here is what we have so far. This is made from 1/8" ABS Sheeting. This is the first mock up of what we are shooting for. The final product will be 1/2" thick and I have also found someone to engrave Z-7 on the panel with the engraved boarder like the Z-18 has. This may take some time to work out so keep checking back. Thanks.

Looking good, would be sweet to integrate a tool holder into it.

Made a little more progress today. Only thing to do now is install screws and plastic weld the top panel to the small filler panel at the TM foot control. This one is made from 1/4" Plastic ABS and is plenty strong for is application. Will test it out this weekend during a tournament.

I am also going to install a tool holder under the swith panel and a cup holder in the center. Maybe two cup holders.
