I been slowly working on this boat and wanted to start a thread to mark the improvements.
1- I had the transom replaced
2- I replaced the wood in the seat.
3-started some wet sanding.

here are some before and after pictures of areas that I have worked on.
1997 Charger 186 TF
1997 Yamaha ProV 175
Looks amazing!
Curious - On the little stress cracks in the corners in pic #3, did you cover them with gelcoat before wetsanding? Hard to tell from the pics.
the previous owner had bought some clear gel coat and put it on it to seal it. The wet sanding just took it off back to the original gel.
whats the best way fix the cracks? or should I just leave them?
WHAT MODEL IS YOUR BOAT? 196XL?
thats a good lookin boat how bad was your transom im working on one now myself
It's a 181 xl
the transom was like wet card board. It would have been bad if I had not replaced it this year.
In the next couple of months I should have new logos for the boat. There's a local sign company working on them right now.
I had one and it was a great ride

its been a while since I have been able to slow down and get some work done. So far I have the bunk carpet and the wood for the bunks. Once the wood is dry I will install the carpet and the bunks. I also have taken off the 30 year old dull nasty looking diamond plate and have started polishing them......
Its been a while since I posted something on this thread.
I have stared painting my trailer which has been a big learning curve.
1-the first coat I sanded the old paint the primed and painted. The problems you could see the outline of the old painted on pin strip.
2- sanded it back down and sanded the pin strip off, then primed and painted..... Problem I did not let the primer dry enough and the paint cracked.(got in a hurry)
I just sanded it back down and re primed it. Since the boat is kept at another family members house, I am going to let the primer sit for a week before I paint it.
I guess in my mind... I was thinking the sand able primer would fill in and hide the painted on pin strip. But I was wrong. The good thing is I am only working on the right side so everything I learn can be used on the left and it should be a lot smoother.
well I was able to get the first base coat down on the left side of trailer. Sorry for the low light conditions but work shop lights were not working.
Well the trailer is taking me a lot longer then I thought... Between the learning curve and everyday stuff.... The Good news is I sprayed the clear this weekend on the left side. So this weekend I will install the diamond plate, fender and new lights.. Then move to the right side.
I guess I should have proof read this before hitting send.... I sprayed the clear this past weekend (yesterday), then this coming sunday I will install the new lights, diamond plate and fender.
Well she is looking good.. I just finished the left side of the trailer---- new paint, new clear, polished the diamond plate, new buck carpet on the side rail, new led lights.
