    How should I be running

I have a 1998 187 dc elite with a 175hp Evinrude Intruder, I just recently had some work do to my boat and prior to the work I was geting 5400rpms and now I am getting 5000 to 5200. I think I have only seen 60mph out of the boat once, should I be getting more than that? It generally runs 56 to 59. I am running a 3 blade 24in Raker , the other question is if I am running on the low side on rpms wil I damage my motor?

Is it the Ficht? Do you have a jackplate?

I run a 25p Renegade. Seems to work the best for me. I get about 60-61 max now if/when I push it like that. New it would go 64.5 all day. I think my RPM's are about 5500-5600. Mine is usually fouled plugs when I loose the RPM's. New plugs will also have to be indexed.

You're prolly at a pretty good setup right now, due to your elevation. (not sure how high you are, just assumed that up north you're higher than Texas) In Texas you might get some more top end, but I'm at 4500 ft with a similar setup and I only get over 60 when I go down to the MO river. Although I did recently try a 23 tempest and I got 200 more rpms. Didn't top end it yet, but I'll post when I do.

Eventually I'm gonna just hang a 200 or 225 on it. But for now, the old 175 EFI is bulletproof and getting me to the fish.

I had my starter go bad and it actually stayed engaged and messed up the timing on the motor, but the mechanic fixed it and when he did so he made some small adjustments to the carbs, changed the position of the roller arm and changed the timing a notch or two but when we were out on the water yesterday he made some adjustments to different settings and we moved it back to where it was running best. I have a 25 renegade but I generally run the 3 blade

Re: How should I be running (bassinbubba)

I have a 98 186 with 04 Evinrude 175 DI. I have recently been trying different props. So far the best I have seen is 63.8 with a 24 raker at 5700 rpms. Last weekend I tried a 25 Tempest Plus. I got 63.2 with that at 5400 rpms. I have an 8" plate set at 3 1/2" below pad. I am going to try raising it a little to see if I can spin a few more rpms with the tempest plus. Still trying to break that 64 mark.

Thanks for the replies, I am gonna borrow my old prop back from the fella I sold my boat too, that was a 26 turbo and that prop used to make my old Ranger fly
