I think that is a repair job... Look at how perfectly square the break is... I would expect the wood to go all the way to at least to just past the tie downs..

Sure looks like it. Anything that breaks from blunt trauma, rarely breaks cleanly.
I have one concern, shouldn't there be some kind of a knee brace,( stringer system) to help make the transom more redigit. When a Transom comes into play I take it very serious, no shortcuts, no half a$$ patch and no doubts what so ever on the integrity of a full replacement or repair. Stuff like that can and have cost lives. Cutting corners is no option at all.

How do you know that their isn't one.. The inner skin is mostly still in tact...
