    Xpress handling issue

Need some help or advice here. Last week I was running down the lake at about 3/4 throttle in my 2011 Xpress H17 Yamaha 115 4stroke when I decided to turn left then right to miss a log initially when I turned left instead of biting into the water the hull just skipped which I was not comfortable with. Whenever I turn back to the right the boat wanted to fish tail on me. If I had the time I would've trimmed down a lil or even slowed down but in this instance it wasn't an option. Has anyone else had the same thing happen to them? What did you change to alleviate the issue? I have many years of experience driving boat boat of all types but this is my first tin rig. Is this common for the hyperlift hull. I am open to any and all suggestions and advice. TIA

That would be my guess. If it is, put a Trophy 4 blade on it.

The Pro series is a good prop, but it won't stick in a hard corner like a 4 blade.

I guess I'll try a 4 blade. My pitch for my 3 blade is 21 so what do you think would work better a 19 or 20 pitched 4 blade prop?

A 21" Merc Trophy is what you need. It will come with 4 large PVS plugs installed if new, and i'd start with 2 across from each other pulled out.

I agree with everything Mike told ya. The 3 blades are great for straight line speeds, but when it comes to handling like you're on rails ...... THAT is when a 4 blade really shines. Hence why I've found myself running 4 blades on 4 of my last 6 boats. Thankfully sometimes you can get a 4 blade to be within 1-2mph of a good 3 blade .... and in some situations it might be faster.

Thanks yall I really appreciate it! I've never run a 4 blade but I think I'm gonna get a trophy plus and run it for awhile and see how it works on my hull. If it performs like yall say it will I'm sure I will Love it.

Yeah my 22 foot Bay handles the corners like a champ with a Trophy Plus 4-blade.

I personally have ran the Trophy Plus on 2 Xpress hyperlift boats, a 16' H50 w/ Yamaha 75 (hopped to 90) and now my X19 w/ 200 HPDI, it's a great fishing prop.

I am the out liar here, go find you a Powertech TRO4 in 19p or 20p. You might need to open up the existing vent holes or have new merc PVS added to the prop.

I've had a Yamaha 22 pitch 3 blade and could only turn 5200rpm. Thanks though!
