    Minn Kota Fortrex 112 Issue

Anyone else have a issue with this trolling motor? Stays on high will not go down in speed , even when the knob is turned to off still stays on high . It started doing it off and on , now it is full 10 power all the time.

    Thanks

Not to be insulting, but you don't have the high bypass on, do you?

Not aware the Fortrex 112 has high bypass. Thought that was I-Pilot and on terranova?

Switch on the side is strickly momentary/off/constant. No high bypass on a MinnKota, is on Motorguide. As stated over in the Electrical forum, I think you have a control board problem.

I had 2 send my new fortrex 112 back for a new one after the first trip to the lake with it. My problem was that the motor was so loud it sounded like it had rocks in it rolling around when you hit the switch.

Not sure if the knob speed select is set on with a set screw or if just pressed on if pressed on i might be stripped

Sounds like the control board needs to be replaced. My Maxxum was doing the same thing and the board was bad.

The control knob presses onto the shaft of the rheostat, then has an e clip that holds it on. I see them get stripped on Motorguides, but not on MinnKotas. Symptons are typical of control board problem.
