That side view outside the water column (rocks) is impressive

Astro,
Gotta say I'm impressed too. Great snapshots. I'll be on Lewis Smith Lake this weekend and I plan to get out tomorrow and Sunday. If I see anything on the graph I'll snap a few.

I am digging that Garmin 2d sonar. Looks good

Maybe it's just me .... or the range on SI, but there seems to be a lot of fish that show on 2D that don't show on SI or DI?
The bottom returns look excellent with great range.

i see them all on di. si is a little hard to see with the pics so small

Why does that Si (to the side of the boat) better than the 7600 series? Water column and Di still suck. Fish everywhere on 2d and barely a smudge on Si and Di. Yall cant even argue that
Sorry to be so frank but I dont get how such quality units with great features have such bad imaging in Si water column and Di. Makes no sense

they show just like every other manufacturer. you seem to continue to have problems reading sidevu and downvu. fish will always show as dots when scanning at a normal speed. if he would post full size pics id be happy to circle them for you again. they also show much better on the unit than in screen shots

I don't think it gets much better than this. My 76 year old eyes don't see the fish on SI, but DI & 2D look great to me. I'll bet I could see the fish(SI) on the unit screen vs the snapshot.

This one, like MonteSS, I don't understand:::Where are the fish on DI? A great 2D image..

Remember guys, this is 14" to 18" walleyes hugging the bottom.
Troy,
Ill send you a PM with the full size images.
The DI and SI does look better on the unit screen.

Hey at least this is only a $1200 investment.

Only 1200$ !!! I paid for a good sonar, i didn't pay for networking, CHIRP or all the other bells and whistle. I'm expecting good results from 2D, SI, DI.

Some here have well over five grand invested.
Sorry to pick on you Astro. Those Si pics of the rocks are some of the best I have ever seen on the net.
Just pointing out that if seeing fish and brush/trees in the Si water column and Di is important to me and these Garmins have probs that should be addressed. With hardware or software updates.

Don't worry about it monteSS.
I received a very interesting PM today,
it shined a light on my question about boat speed and scroll speed, I didn't realize how important the relation between the two is. I understand that Garmin Side vu is a relatively new product so it's it's hard to find people with a lot of experience with it. From what I read today I need to find the right recipe between boat speed scroll speed range contrast and brightness in order to make the fish appear on the screen. I will certainly try that next time I'm out and will share my results on this post.
The future is bright my fellow Garmin users, I just wish the fish on my Side vu were as bright

Funny but you keep proving my point even more with all those crappy shots you are posting. No way standing on the bow of a boat six feet away from a 8" screen in the sun you will see that tiny smudge.
