Yes it does and I think it is on the main sonar menu but doesn't show up unless you scroll down to some additional options.

With the 2D view displayed, push the Menu button.

Scroll down to Sonar Options and select that.

Select Preferences, then down to FishID+ and select that.

    Choose the settings

I'm reeeeaaaly confused by all this! I have a 1198 and looking to replace my 898 on bow with a 1199. Is the current software that comes on the 1199 not what it needs to be for the fish id? I've never used the fish id on either of my units. Thought it wouldn't show what all was truly under you. So y'all are saying to turn on the jigging mode and the fish id? Boy I have a lot to learn about these units!

With the latest update you should be fine, I don't use it - but the update said it was fixed IIRC....

Over the past few years, I have continued to learn from Wayne and others.

I now use the FishID all the time. Jigging mode is only necessary when you are using both 200 and 83 khz with 2d.

Many times when scanning with the 1199, I will use the (3) part screen. Large SI, with small screen of DI and 2D. 2D will be 200 khz in this view. SI and DI will let me see the structure well and FishID on the 2D will quickly show fish in the brush, baitballs, etc.

Saw a few bass with shad yesterday. Tough to catch the ones suspended but the ones near the bottom especially on depth changes were a lot easier-- only caught 36.

ANYTHING in the water column will produce an arch. An arch is created by time and distance within the sonar pulse.
Humminbird's FishID only assigns the symbols if the returns meet the criteria for them. Small fish don't have an air bladder large enough to get assigned the symbols.
The arches with no symbols are small fish, most are shad, some may be small bass or crappie.

Ok...most of my fishing is done in less than 15ft of water. What 2d settings would you recommend as for as the 200 or 83 or 200/83? And jigging mode on or off. with fish id on?

Those images are done with 83/200 kHz to get both FishID colors and with Jigging Mode ON.

The Blue fish are in the 83 kHz coverage and the Gold fish are in the 200 kHz coverage.

It depends on the software version you have. If it is 6.490 or lower it will work. If it is 7.510 (current) it will work.

Between those, the symbols are blended.
This is the description of the fix
    • Fixed blended beam FishID.

Ok thanks. Gonna try this out on some deeper rock points. Hard to tell the fish apart from the rocks because the fish are right on bottom.

Sounds like a great way to locate them in deep weeds. We have pretty thick weeds down to 25' in a few lakes. Can't wait to try it.

I turned my fish Id on and I did not see any of the fish pictues. Does my jig mode have to be turned on? I have a 999 with 7.650 software
