going back to Meguiar's from ProTec products

If I wanted to go back to using Meguiar's products after using ProTec NuPaint Moisturizer and Polish Sealant, do I have to do anything special to remove the ProTec products?

    Thanks in advance

Typically when I made a switch with a car I would give it a good wash with Dawn to get the current wax off...This would allow me to have a solid base and know exactly what was on the car. I dont think a boat would be any different...

Dawn is definitely the consensus here.

Me too, I'm a prior user of McGuire's and I think that Pro-Tec has them beat ten fold. When using McGuire's I would always have a slight water line left behind on my white hull. With the pro-tec the line wipes off totally with absolutely no residue left behind, plus I think it outshines it too.

All: I've received many PMs about this post.

I want to be clear, I did not have any negative results or any problems at all with ProTec products. Cat19 has been very responsive and supportive with his product. I don't want to turn anyone off of it or give anyone any hesitation.

My original questions I think was, as it turns out, due to my having applied the product completely by hand. Cat19 tells me that I'd most likely get a much better result (the one I wanted) if I used a power buffer / polisher (which I kind of knew anyway, but for a lack of materials, did not use originally).

I hope this helps anyone in making their decision of which product to use.

I applied the moisturizer by hand, it was a bear...I went to harbor freight and bought a buffer after talking to Joe. I'll be using that this weekend to apply the sealant. Previously I've just used the spray on quick waxes to shine up the boat but decided it's time to start taking a little better care of the gel coat.

Use Nu Finish car wax and be done with it. Shines like noting else.

I have the Harbor Freight buffer, but I couldn't find any 8" bonnets to fit it (all the local shops have 7" or 9"). I'll order them online next time when I get ready to do it again.

9" is what you will need on the Harbor Frt buffer. This way the edge of the pad flex's to get in the contours of the boat.

I prefer to apply the NU Paint Moisturizer with a buffer and the Sealant Polish by hand. Applying the Sealant Polish by hand insures good coverage and no premature curing of the polymer.
