    elevation problems???????????need the prop guru

I have a 2001 SCX210 with a225 merc. When i test drove it at Lake Amistad it ran about 65 mph at 5500rpm. I live in NM and the lake we normally fish at is at 4000ft elevation.have had the boat tuned and it runs great but we can only get between 4400 and 4600 rpm now.I have read some propping posts and think we need to go down on our prop pitch. We now have a Merc 4-blade 25 pitch in good shape. When we run the boat shoots a big rooster tail....wonder if we need to go down a notch on the jack plate? Also,Im not sure how to measure the pad to prop distance...any help would be much appreciated.

There are several old posts about measuring the height. 3.5" seems to be the preferred starting point.

I just posted how to measure prop-to-pad in the 05 198 thread.

I have never heard of an SCX210. I just went thru the entire 2001 brochure....not there....????????

Weird! Is it a regular bassboat? If so there should be a domed decal near the rear of both sides of the boat with a model number on it.

Would the hull ID tell you anything?

No..It would only tell me when it was built and the year model but not the model itself. Do you not have the decals on the sides of the boat near the rear. Right near the "ChampioN" decals?????

The Coast Guard HP rating plate on your boat should have the model number. Mine is in small letters near the bottom of that plate...

Chris!! Turn off your pop up blocker or allow pop ups from BBC. Got a feeling we are trying to help in Instant messages which are Pop-ups. BBC does not allow any other pop-ups!!!

I'll WAG it and say it's at Ute Lake ... the closest water to Clovis to float a boat. Plus he probably has a place up there ...

Chris, I grew up in Plainview and we had a communications business with offices also in Clovis. I bought Larry Rothwell's 176DC back in 94, if you know him.

Tell him I said hi next time you see him. My younger brother also had a boat dealership in Clovis around 1990 for a year or two. I've got quite a few friends around there as well. Some past customers and some acquaintences from my days of flying RC models.

There will probably be a emblem on the side of the boat with the model number on it. Is it a Fish n Ski or bass boat (single or dual console)?

Find a 23 Tempest, set at 3 3/4" below pad, and have fun, that'll be your altitude rig.

    Re: (Allen)

Tried a 23 Tempest that the local boat shop loaned me...it blew out like crap...would NOT come out of the hole...I think I may have to stick with the 4 blade.BTW boat is a 206 Elite with dual console..and 225 Merc. When it dis finally get out of the hole I did gain 400 rpm and about 4-5 mph.

    Re: (setdehookgringo)

    206 is a tad under-powered with a 225. Altitude does not help..

    Someone will help....
