    Finally got the boat out....

After about 5 1/2 months of hibernation I decided to let my boat out of the garage, took it down to the pond and ran it for a few minutes, turns out I still know how to drive it, after a couple slow passes I opened it up, it felt good, 66.5 mph on dead slick water, but thats with no tackle, just me and some rods. It's good to get back out thats for sure. I got the boat all cleaned up when I got home, it looks as good as the day I got it.

Thanks, I'll have to say I do like yours too. I suppose the lakes down your way have been open for a while? They are just starting to open up around here, the one near my house is about 1/2 open right now, so it wont be long and I'll be catching some crappies and perch before the opener.

Mike your 181 looks like it just came off the showroom floor!

Very nice rig and I to hope to get my 183 out. Problem is its still in storage and they are calling for snow again!

66.5 is stroken it for that combo light or not Lookin to get mine out next weekend -- Those southern boys don't know how good they have it being able to fish year round -- Bass season is still closed in WI - so all we can do is run around or pan fish until May

    Sweet looking 181 for sure

But that 66.5 mph gotta be speedo speed!

My 183 with a Yammie 150 VMax does 66 speedo with me & light load/gas, but gps is more like 62 mph.

Best I ever hit with mine was 64.5 GPS in cold water and running light by myself. When I was playing around with my set up, Todd at C&O told me that he once hit 67+ with a 150 EFI/181 by using a worked 25p Tempest and rasing the jack plate. I'm running a worked 23p & stock EFI and never got around to trying a 25p.... 62 or so day in & day out is good enough for me

Got mine out last weekend on the M. River. It's too bad the Chippwa river isn't open all year.

I bet it's GPS! I had a 1996 181 with a 150 EFI and have run 64.5 GPS. He's running further north in cooler conditions. Very possible. Don't hate cause he'll smoke you!!!! jk

BTW when I got 64.5 (63 any day of the week) that was with a scratched up trophy prop. A clean, worked prop would be even better.

Re: Finally got the boat out.... (dukhntr)

taint speedo speed, when the speedo worked it would bury it at around 76. I am running a croxton worked 24 tempest at around 5800 rpms in cool weather. When I had it out the other day the water temp was around 38 and the air temp was about 40. Ive always wanted to try a worked 25 tempest just to see what it would do...
