What kind of props are you guys running with the LS models?

I have an LS 175 with a 175 hp. I have a 6" plate, got it set in the middle. I use a 25 four blade prop. It'll plane off decent with a full load, tow a tube and top out about 55 mph. Yesterday I took a buddy to the lake to show him how different props and motor height affect how a boat performs. We started with the 25 pitch, plate set in the middle. It ran 55 at about 5600 rpm. Then I put on my old prop, a 24 three blade. It wanted to slip before planning, got about 53 at 4800 rpm. Left the 24 on and raised the plate all the way up, it slipped or spun quite a bit before planning off, got 56 mph at 5200. Then I left the plate up and put on a 27 four blade, it planned off ok, got about 56/57 at 5600 rpm. One thing I know for sure is I think that my boat performs way better with a 4 blade prop than with a 3 blade.

We ran a 25 pitch ballistic 3 blade on ours. Planed out awesome at 3 1/2 below par with no slip and ran mid 50s with one guy and light load. With a 150 fast strike.

I run a 25 Renegade with a CMC plate all the way up with a '92 150 Intruder at 68 mph (gps) at 5400 rpm on a LS180.

LS 205. 4 blade renaglade 10" plate setback . 5800rpm 62 ish loaded up. Johnson 225 HO. It will do more but I have it setup to only turn 5800 rpm no more, to many fellows blow there motors running 6000 or so rpm , if your gonna run them that hard you need to double oil, vro, and gas tank oil mixed

I have a hydrasports ls 180 with a intruder 175 hp which had a 21p solus prop on it when I bought it. it would jump on pad quick and run about 45 at 5500 rpm. it would climb to 6100 at wot "if you let it" becuase it was under propped. I tried a 24 p raker the other day and same results 45mph at 5500 rpms but this is at wot. and it will not set the boat up on the pad. any suggestions?.

Do you have a jackplate? Do you think the boat may be heavier than it should be?

I do have a jack plate started at 4 inches prop to pad and worked my way up to 2 with no major changes. I’m not sure how much the boat weighs or is supposed to weigh but i crawled through the rod box area and checked under the deck and everything seems bone dry.

The reason I ask about the weight is because my hydrasport was about 400lbs heavier than it should've been. The floor was solid as was the transom. My guess is water leaked in the screw holes that held the thing that mounted over the gas tank.

Update: I ran my boat again today with a like new 24p raker picked up to 52 mph so slightly better due to less wear on prop. Noticed the smell of unburned fuel when under load. Pulled all spark plugs and found i am not getting any spark on one cylinder. Going to trouble shoot and fix the downed cylinder and I’d imagine that will make quite the difference. Thanks

Yes it will. One of the little bb's that plugs up a hole on the float bowl came out on mine once and I dropped 15 mph.
