What tire is that, and what does it say on your rim?

I have 15'' load range D Carlisle ST tires and they clearly say 65psi on the sidewall. I have no problem airing them to that pressure, they're made for it.

I have Carlisle radial trailer tires and they say max load 2830lbs at 80 (yep) psi. Would you run them that high? I know tire says it but I've never run a tire that high psi.

My little skinny bicycle tires take 90 to 100psi.

Just had a blowout again today on the way home from fishing. Single axle with a heavy Stratos. Thank you for this information.

    30psi-1300lbs
    35psi-1430lbs
    40psi-1530lbs

A 5psi pressure drop results in a 100lb capacity drop.
So let me ask this?? on Hot days running down the road, wouldnt the air in the tires expand because of them getting warm? Now will that cause a situation if you max out the pressures then?

That spec is always measured cold.

The speed rating is what throws me. 87 mph. 101 mph?

That is the speed they are load rated. Most are 65MPH. You lose capacity if you go faster.

The manager at my local tire store (known him for years) recommended replacing my trailer tires with passenger car radials of the same size. They're better quality with higher load rating, more road contact, track/balance better, etc. Downside is they're a little more expensive but not having to worry about trailer tires is well worth it.

Please show me what brand and size he is recommending.... Is this before or after you de rate the passenger tire 10% when used on a trailer?

I have 215/75 R14 tires on my dual axle on my Ranger trailer. These are trailer tires only. I have always kept about 35psi in the tires. The above discussion about air pressure caught my attention so I checked the tires and it states on the tire max is 50 psi. wow is that right?

I run 40-42psi on my dual axle with a 21footer.
Trailer rides smoother and no issues with heat.

They used to but quit. Carlisle are supposed to be made in America. They remade their tire so Discount Tire would carry them. Have had a set on now for three years and no problems. Lots of highway driving in Arizona and then dirt roads to some of the lakes.
