Evolution of the fastest Triton hulls

Can anyone explain to me the Triton models that have the fastest hulls? I'm currently in a 97 Tr18 and looking to upgrade to something in the 2008-2013 year range. I'm interested in the 20'-21' models with the 250hp motors.

Has anything changed in the hull design in these models over the years?

Its looks to me that the 20xhp, 21hp, 20hp, are the fast models

The 20xs, 20trx, are the bit slower models

and the 20x2, 20x3 are the slowest models.

    Thanks

Might want to add a 1470# early TR-21 to your list.......if you want to go over 80 MPH GPS.

To this date I think the 2004-2006 Tr21X was the fastest and best boat Tritonever made. Now with that said the TRX has to be the best all around boat, great ride and not to bad on top end.

I've thought about getting an early tr21 but really looking for something I'm not always fixing stuff on. I know the speed of the early Tritons though, mine runs comfortable at about 63-64, and I've seen 67. I just need a bit more space so I'm looking to upgrade and I want to hit the mid 70s without too much tweaking. And I certainly don't mind the chine walk, with the tr18 I've got pretty good controlling it.

I think the 20XHP was the fastest, my son has a 2008 model that has hit 82.

After reading a lot and looking at speeds it appears to be the 20xhp is the fastest. What about outboards? Is a 250hp motor really 250hp? Are there any major differences in the pro xs models over the years?

One thing you don't want to do, is trust some of the speeds in the Post Your Speed sticky.

Smallmouth Guy (Jimbo) still has a 2004 21X and I have seen 80 on that one with a 225 HO, also seen a few that hit the 82 mark back in 05. Mine would hit the 79 Range loaded. Personally I thought the x boat back then was faster than the 20. We sold several 20 and 21 in that day and time.

If u are referring to the boat Jimbo has ask some other people, that 225 HO would beat a lot of 250 setting around and a GPS does not lie. I do know where you are coming from though, see a few 82 to 84 mph Tritons and I do say the same thing. Jimbos would run those high speeds with a very light load not full of gas.

The 20HP with a 250 will be the fastest boat in the 2008-2013 time frame. Like Rodney said , the 04-06 20x and 21x were fast too. I really miss my 06 20xhp!

I had an 05 21X that clocked 80 one time, most of the time 77-78.

Take a look at the tritons for sale on here.......on 11/21 and 11/23, there are two boats for sale. Both 2009, one is a 20hp, the other a 20xhp. What is the difference in the hull in these boats?

One thing about those "older Xhp" I have an 07 21Xhp and she ran usually in the 73-77 range depending on weather and temp (although I did hit 82ish with nothing in the boat but 5 gal gas and me. But..... let me tell you after all of the new gadgets out there , talons, all these giant screens and tons of tackle (you can never have too much), partner and myself. It takes a toll on the speed. My boat now runs 70 in the am and when the weather heats up 68-70, and thats FULLY loaded. Those 12' talons have some weight to them! I dont think I can ask much more out of my boat. Yea I probably could get a few MPH messing around with the height. But its been set the same since I bought her new (a little tweak here and there for the first 6 months). I personally think running at about 5800rpm (WOT) on the fury propped 250 proXS she gets along pretty good...put all that stuff on anyone elses brand and your lucky to get 65.
