If u are referring to the boat Jimbo has ask some other people, that 225 HO would beat a lot of 250 setting around and a GPS does not lie. I do know where you are coming from though, see a few 82 to 84 mph Tritons and I do say the same thing. Jimbos would run those high speeds with a very light load not full of gas.

I just left out of a 99 tr 19 and went to a 04 21x with a 250xs. And let me tell you that X boat will tote the mail. I haven't even messed with anything yet and am turning a 26 fury. and with two people livewells full and gas. I have hit 77 and haven't really got on a long strecth where i could really air it out. I like the layout of a triton as far as storage and fishability. I just can't see where a newer one can be that much better.

I think the "X" and "XHP" boats were the best Triton ever made! I love mine and I'm keeping it. I will repower before I let it go!

My 2000 TR21 will hit 79 anytime I can get a long stretch with 2 people 1/2 tank, empty wells and tourney loaded. 75 anytime, anywhere, any load including full wells. I have a power pole and 36Volt motor requiring 3AGM27's and 1 AGM31 cranking battery. I have hit 80.5 with STOCK 27 Tempest!

I'm not into tournament fishing, between work and having a 2 year old I just can't do it right now. I'm hoping, given 10 years or so I can get back in to it. That being said, I keep my boat pretty light, don't care for power poles, and rarely fill up the live wells. My Tr18 is so light right now it's hit 67 a few times. A lot of people complain and cry about the so called Triton chinewalk, but I love it. I guess I've just had enough time in the seat to know how to drive it. Couple of years ago I went up to Smith Mountain lake to watch the Elite Series and I had no problem keepin up with the pros. My next boat I'm wanting something atleast 20', and can hit mid 70s all day. I'm thinking a 20xhp or 21xhp will be it.

The Tr-21 is a sweet boat, I've thought a few times of getting one, putting some of the newer seats in it and calling it a day. There's also a Tr-22 here in NC for sale with a 300 pro max, that's a thought too.

So, what's the history on the fastest of the triton hulls? Tritons starting selling in 1997 and that was the vortex hull tr21? Then they made a change with the hin 1740#? What came next, the 21x in 2004, followed by 21xhp in 2006? What changes were made?

I drove all the old TR models and they would fly. But, none of them could run with my 200XP or any other 200XP that was setup correctly. It was a handful to drive, but it would fly. I have never driven the newer Triton hulls, so I have no idea what they will run.

I was at Triton when they were building the 200 xp, they had a pro type built and had it on Old Hickory lake trying it out. Roland and five of the Triton pros were at the lake and Triton had a course set up to race these boats, not a one of the pros could drive that boat. Earl, myself and one other person drove it and like 200XP said above it was a hand full to drive but it would flat out run. They built a limited number of those to race in the Bass/Race competition series that lasted one year. Since none of the pros could ever drive that boat they used the TR20 to use in those tournaments and races. Hank Parker came in second in the first tournament in his Ranger and Gary Kline was first in his Skeeter. They combined the race points with the fish points to get a winner and that is how Gary won, with the most points. I sold five of those 200XP and i think there was one guy who could drive his boat at WOT.

I'm right around 72 with my 21x & 225 pro xs. I don't see how 25 HP would give anyone 8 mph.. Maybe 3-4? Im talking tournament load, not stripped. I have 4 batterys all my gear, at least 25 gallons of gas, 2 blades..

I just hit 78.4 in my '04 21X with just me, half tank of gas, and a full load of gear. Could never get over 70 with a 225. This new 250 has easy given me 8 MPH. There could be more if I switched to a 27 prop and added another couple inches of setback.

But..... let me tell you after all of the new gadgets out there , talons, all these giant screens and tons of tackle (you can never have too much), partner and myself. It takes a toll on the speed. My boat now runs 70 in the am and when the weather heats up 68-70, and thats FULLY loaded. Those 12' talons have some weight to them! I dont think I can ask much more out of my boat. Yea I probably could get a few MPH messing around with the height. But its been set the same since I bought her new (a little tweak here and there for the first 6 months). I personally think running at about 5800rpm (WOT) on the fury propped 250 proXS she gets along pretty good...put all that stuff on anyone elses brand and your lucky to get 65.
I have the same boat and was wondering which Fury you are running? I am running with 2 10' Talons, 2 HDS 10's, 4 AGM 31's. I run a 27P Tempest+ and get 72-73 gps. Just checking to see if there was more to gain with a Fury.

I have a 03 tr20 with Merc. 225 efi would run 79 with 27 tempest. Added 2 10f blades and a extra battery for 36v troller. Killed the hole shot and speed down to 73. Played with Jack plate and just cannot get it back close. Now running a 26 tempest
