I drilled test holes looking for just that, and they all looked good. Wood is solid, and what I can access of the knees/stringers are solid too.

Quick weekend update. I spent last week and all weekend sanding the bottom. Gel coat is made of nails and gums up sandpaper horribly, so a combination of lots of sandpaper, a belt sander, and persistence has it almost ready for some HullSpeed epoxy coating!! The HullSpeed should get here Wednesday, and I hope to be ready for it. Just need to finish up the chines with some hand sanding. It seems the worst of this project is in the rear view, which is good since it needs to be ready for Clear Lake by April 2nd. :)

I am in the process of doing a 96 ZX180 myself. Here is a warning for you along with a pic. All the foam and I mean all of it was saturated with water at least 100 gallons conservative estimate. That is 700 lbs of weight added to hull not good. All wood stringers and decks were rotted due to being unprotected only top was half @ssed glassed with mat. Pics are foam problem and naked hull the transom is good by some miracle.20210620_123424.jpg
