update: i have finished repainting the left and right sideplates. i have also touched up the reel foot, both front and back. i installed a new drag star and upgraded the clutch. the insides are smooth as butter. i had some difficulty with the right sideplate because the airbrush spit out a piece of debris. i had to sand it down and, therefore, it caused some uneveness in the paint and after touchup and clear it is still visible. i could redo it but at this point that means sacrificing the factory "chronarch 100mg 6 bearings" mark. the left sideplate came out flawless. the right could be better. and there is a slight color difference between the sideplates and the frame which i did not fully repaint, only touched up the reel foot. this is due to age, as the factory paint has faded and yellowed ever so slightly. other than that, this thing came out super good and i can't stress enough how awesome this reel is. its performance is better than many of the newer models out today. perhaps not as tight tolerances, but that super free feature is the reel deal, these things fly!

might swap handles, after that will probably post for sale

Nice work but to be honest, as a collector, we like keep everything original. Any re-work or custom-work will take down the value of the reel. Any add-on will not mean much to us and also take down the value.
As an user, we have many different choices (Core, Metanium, Alderbaran, etc ...).
