    INDEXING SPARKPLUGS
FICHT and E-TEC engines require the open gap of a sparkplug to face or to be within about 90° on either side of the injector tip for best drivability.

The following link shows which plugs to use and how to identify 1998-99 FICHT heads, and the second part shows the tools needed and the indexing procedure.

Even though the E-TEC is not mentioned in the article, the indexing is performed the same way. Disreguard the first two pages as they apply to early FICHT engines. The last two pages describe the procedure.

In case anyone's wondering why this post has my signature on it.....ChampioNman needed help deleting the first post in the original thread, I went and deleted it and had I thought for two seconds I would have realized that you can't delete the first post in a thread without it deleting the entire thread. Duhhh...
So I've copy/pasted it from the Wayback Machine and ChampioNman can copy/paste it into his own post(s).
