Thumbs Up Custom Passenger Rod holder for RT188

I kept Mike waiting awhile but finally got him my prototype and he got it installed tonite. I made a template off his boat last time he was here and got to it last week. Turned out better than I could of imagined and all the measuring and custom fitting of the template paid off. Easily holds 4 rods neatly now. Didnt seem to take Mike long so Im going to say install was pretty simple and straightforward. 4 screws hold it all together. Now offering them in painted colors he requested white to match his boat and it turned put awesome. Very pleased hope you guys like it to.

    And here it is installed.

Its a huge improvement over the one that comes stock. The rods sit nice and secure. Install was easy. I put a little masking tape over the screwheads to hold them in place and just eyeballed where to mark for the holes. Once they're drilled just screw them in by hand to avoid breaking the screw off. It's very solid when installed and I think it looks cool. Thanks again Jr!

Hey BTO- If I purchase a holder from you, does it come with the "River to Sea Swim bait".

Im just glad it all fit and worked like you wanted. I always sweat it a little when I make something new. Very good idea with using the tape to hold the screws to mark the holes. Hope it serves you well.

Thanks. I was looking at pics of the rt178 and I didnt notice it even having one or the room for it with the rod box extending back the way it does. Is there room for one?

Mike forgot to ask does the strap work good still for holding them all in place?

Strap works perfect. You couldn't do more than two or three rods with the stock holder. With this thing the rods arent really laying on one another and the strap is plenty long to wrap around them. Works really slick.

Nice work again Roy. I think talented boat designers/builders should get involved in home design/building. Their ability to effectively utilize space and creatively integrate it is an art form. So much wasted space in homes these days. Roy, you have that gift.
