2001 TR20 Setup suggestions for more stability

Just bought this nice rig and needing advice on attempting to reduce the bad chine walk at 60-63 mph: Current setup - 2001 TR20, 2000 Johnson 200, 6" jack plate, 24p Raker, 3.5" BP, 5900rpm WOT/ full trim, 35-40 psi h20 @ WOT/full trim, 69mph gps. Also and probably most important... I have owned smaller boats in the past and never experienced chine walking until this rig, so I would be considered an amateur with this boat. Looking for suggestions to the setup or maybe I just need to learn to drive the boat. Either way, any replies are appreciated. Also I have had an experienced boater with me riding passenger to get it wot/full trim and took both hands off the wheel. That is how I know the h20 pressure, speed, and rpms.

Sounds like you do need more seat time and your mota is a little low. I'd come up 1/4" at a time and watch your water pressure.

Adding a couple inch spacers will help for a total of 8" setback. Raise your motor up until your water pressure starts to drop below your minimum wot pressure or you lose lift than bring it back up a tad and lock it in. Once you have the motor set right it's just a battle of getting the feel of your seat bottom in tune with what the boat wants to do. There is a chine walking video in the novice forum I believe that has helped many. Also use the search feature, this topic has been beaten to death.

After reading your first 6 words (Just bought this nice rig and....) I started to laugh. Not at YOU, but how many times that has been said! The old owner probably had the boat set up perfect after all those years. Get in and drive, drive, drive then after a few days you will have that wonderful A HA moment and never look back! Good luck, Mark

Don't go to Full Trim, older Tritons like around half to 3/4 trim.
