It is the one that Rich Z reminded us of the other day when a guy had a fuel problem with an OX66 model.

It is not normally changed out on a routine basis as are other filters. It would normally be changed if and as needed, like the HP pump filters and the injector filters.

Good info Jethro1. Finally an illustration of the high pressure pump screens. Fyi, the 3.3l hpdi has what I call it a two stage pump that requires 4 filter screens and the 2.6l requires only 2 screens. All these filter screens are the same size including the ones in the injectors that we provide with injector service.
BuzzB8 should pin this up on repair links.

That is a small metal screen that can easily be cleaned with solvent and some compressed air. Not sure about hpdi but on ox66 if clogged, it will increase fuel pressure and motor may/will run rich and foul plugs or o2 sensor prematurely.

IMHO the one second from left, bottom row is the most critical. But they all need maintenance.

Jethro, been trying to find the one on the bottom right that looks like a sensor. Been looking on Sim's site but don't see it ?
Will hard to start have anything to with filter issues?

    FILTER ELEMENT

    http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Ya...UEL/parts.html

The above illustrations are for a later model VZ250 by the way. Early models might have a different filter element.

If the motor runs fine once you do get it started I would not suspect a fuel filter as being the problem. Is it hard to start when cold or hard to start when warm or hard to start all of the time?

Once you get it started it seems to start fine the rest of the day. Changed the lp pumps last summer. Idles like crap most of the time.

Seems pretty typical for an HPDI. At least typical of mine.

I sort of figured that. I was planning on changing filters at the end of the season anyway just would change now if there was any hope for improvement! They haven't been changed sense 2011. I really don't know how many hours they have on them as I bought the boat in 2012. I don't put a lot of hours on it.
No rhyme or reason just starts and idle's hard when cold seems to do fine the rest of the day. Never has idled well at any time.
    Thanks for all imput.

I am trying to identify each of the filters using boats.net parts breakdowns. I am having trouble finding the 3 filters on the right side of the diagram. For future reference I listed the filter descriptions and part numbers as called out on boats.net starting from top left and then left to right. Can anyone help with this info for the filters on the right side?????????

Look under the pinned threads on top of this forum "how to repair links". Btw, we have these available and they come with injector service for free or $100 each if you want to buy them...lol
