Define "old"......Rangers don't age, they mature!! The mojo is strong in the more "mature" rigs!! That being said, I bough my boat as a filpper to a newer model when I was ready. After buying it and with Carlo's help going through it stem to stern and the motor, I don't see what a new rig gives me that I don't already have. I still need some poles and possibly a bigger plate but I am totally happy with how it performs.

Here is what I fish out of when I don't have a demo. 1994 Ranger 482vs with a '99 FICHT that runs like a top.......knock on wood! I do a little more to it each year, I bolted a jack plate on this spring for fun. Next up is new dash panels, updated H'birds, and hydraulic steering. My plan is to give this to my boy when he graduates college!

Great thread, there are a lot of awesome older boats on here!

    Here are a few pics of my 97' 461vs with a 97' VMax 150.

It's not all original as I've done a TON of updates to the boat. It's just about the way I want it now though 5 years later. I just got done adding a 6" plate and completely re-rigging the motor this year. I'll likely add a single power pole to it this winter and then re-carpet the trailer bunks and then it will be done.

Thinking about upgrading to a 520-521VX next year if I can get a fair price for this. If not I'll keep it, it needs nothing and I haven't see another boat in person this age that still looks this good.

The 300 and 400 series boats just look like a bass boat should! When I think of bass fishing in it's mecca, I think of Ranger 361's and old Bassmaster videos with Bob Cobb.

That is one sharp rig! It would take an awful lot of boat to be an upgrade from this! Love the colors.

If people concentrated on the REALLY important things in life….there would be a shortage of fishing poles !
