New Member looking for purchase info.

Hello All. I was searching the web came across this site and thought I'd join in on the fun.

I am currently looking at an 87 Ricky Green model Cajun. Has a 1994 Mercury 150, jack plate, new alumimum single axle trailer. Needs trolling motor, fish finder and some TLC on the carpet, seats. No visible damages to the body. Finish needs some polishing is all. Also has some sort of heavy duty fiberglass that was only offered for a couple of years. Also has what I believe is called a hot foot fuel pedal. As current Cajun owners do you feel this is worth $4,500.00.

Tight lines. Thanks in advance for any replies.

    Hi Brian, Welcome aboard.

Sounds high to me, but I understand that boats bring a higher price in the south. We only get to use them 1/2 a year each year........

I have an 84 Ricky Green and its a great boat. I'd say $4,000 would be an ok price if the boat was in really good condition and motor was very well taken care of. The heavy duty fiberglass you are talking about is probably the "Armorhide" that was used on these boats for a while in the 80's. Alot of guys on here will tell you the Ricky Green was one of the best bass boats ever made.

Post a picture of it if you can.

Well, I did it. I bought the boat. I will post pictures once I figure out how. Going to Outdoor World in Orlando on Tuesday to pick out a trolling motor.

Looking at either Motor Guide or Minn. Any suggestions?

    Thanks.

Congrats! You are gonna love that boat.

As far as trolling motors go, Minn Kota and Motorguide are both good. I have owned one of each. I currently have a Minn Kota on my 84 RGFM and its a fine piece of machinery!

In my humble opinion, the mid 80's to '90, RGFM, (Ricky Green Fishing Machine) and the PEFE (Paul Elias Fishing Edition) WERE the best bass boats EVER built. There boats that were faster. (And they were not slow by any means.) But there were none that were better.

I still smile when I see one.
