    Way to lock down unit?

What do you guys do when you leave your boat out? Are there any devices to lock the gimbal knobs or other ways to secure the head unit from theft? I leave my boat in a locked warehouse and want to deter theft without carrying the head unit with me.

Is that a Pelican Case Bob, or maybe a "less expensive" alternative??
I would like one, but I think I can get an aluminum brief case for a LOT less the a Peli!!!

I'm sure you're aware of the cost of an 1198 and 1199. Even if I didn't get the Pelican case for free (had to order the foam kit), I would buy one brand new to protect my two Birds, plus I wanted to be like TroyBoy!!

Yeah , I know how much things cost - but an aluminum brief case is pretty stout, and the convoluted foam is relatively cheap - I actually have some plastic cases we had some of our CNC profiler tooling delivered in, but I wanted to be able to put both in the case - not carry two cases.

I guess being like troyboy is better than being a dunc...LOL!
When I had 700 series SI machines I used to carry them in a Makita Cordless Drill case - also a freebie too......

I have four of the aluminum cases. I switch what units I may be using on a particular day so I keep them separate.

Have not found one for the Helix 12 with the D RAM mount plate attached.

I keep my 2 helix 10 head units in a padded computer bag. No problems so far.

If you want to go budget like Robert, you might need to do some old school garage sale-ing and find a retro over the shoulder VHS camcorder that comes with the big plastic case. Might be big enough! HA!

    Nah, that's too small too...

I am using a Sterilite TRUNK and it's OK for justy a pair of Helix 12's but add a few more & it's cramped!
