    Javelin 409 owners

I have tried several props and a e finally found the right one or igleast the one i feel is right first off all props i am going to list wer tried at all jp beigbts from 5" below pad up to 2 1/4 "

    props tried
renegade 25 max speed 58 mph bad hole shot 5300 rpm
renegade 23 max speed 57mph great hole shot 6000rpm
raker original 24 max speed 58 ok hole shot blew out on take off had to feather throttle to get up
turbo 2+2 24 max speed 57 ok hole shot 5600 rpm
tmpest plus 25 max speed 60mph good hole shot when alone bad hole shot with fishing partner 5600rpm
turbo lightning 23 max speed 65mph great hole shot 5800-5900 rpm
my 409 has a 225 johnson venom on it and the jp is 6"
the turbo prop is by far the best planning prop alone or with partner and son On boat. Boat handles great with this prop top speed is great with partner best top speed before was 57mph turbo prop gets us to 61-62mph easy
You can feel the stern lift which this prop creates. Its awesome and if you have a 409 with a 200 or 225 i would highly recommend this prop.

No the javelin 409 never ran 70 i have talked with several owners who struggle to see 60mph the 409 is its own hull not a copy of the stratos line like most other javelin boats it is unique a little heavier then the other javelin's and has a deeper hull with extra weight in rear iof hull mid sixsty's with the mid 90's power plant is great numbers i know of one owner who has 2010 225 ho and his does run low 70's but the newer power plant can turn a 26 tempest with ease

I had a '98 409 with a 225 vindicator, 6 inch manual jp. Tried ALOt of props. Best i tried hands down was a 26 tempest. Best advice i can give you is that it ran the fastest jacked all the way down. At the end i had it as far down as it would go which was 5 inches below the pad to the nosecone. Ran 65 loaded 68-69 light. GPS

Also have a friend running a 409 presently with a Johnson 225 ho. Hes runnin a 25 tempest and runnin 67 loaded. 70 light. Same deal, got her all the way down. Its a heavy hull and hard to lift. Best riding boat ive ever sat in tho. They are awesome hulls. Wish they still made them

Yep run my plate deep as well my current steering setup is hydraulic and if have plate all the way down which is 5 1/4" below pad cant trim up much to avoid branches or when trailoring on mine the 25 tempest runs great but the lightning is just better on top end seems to have more stern lift which really helps the heavy rear end. As for hull i love it have owned two rangers and a procraft wouldnt switch back to any of them. Have done alot to make mine like new carpet deck step new seats next will be motor when mine dies

what is the hub size on the turbo prop and looks like your boat is real similar to mine. I need to re prop after upgrading to the 2014 250 ho etec from Johnson 200. blowing props left and right. my rig has a 8 rapid jack plate but our boat are close. I have been told top run the trop04 or the bravo1. in a 24p. the new dfi motors have ton of exhaust and I am blowing out props that I used to use. like everyone else don't want to keep jacking around and don't have ton of cash to buy a few props..

I have read a lot of post on these boats and maybe I'm missing something. I have a 97 409TE. 8" jack plate. running a 25pitch renegade with a 200 johnson venom. Tournament load At 5600 rpm she will hit 74 on the gps with ease. At 6300 rpm 80mph is no problem.

I know I see a lot of post on different sites and they all say there running in the 60's tops. I've been around boats all my life my dad has been a certified mercury tech for 40 years. I know years ago he sold the old Dynatrak boats and had two identical 17' models same motor same everything. And one would run 10mph faster then the other flat out. I guess that there are some small difference's in the molds.

Did they change the hulls between 94 and 97?? I grew up in a 1994 409TE/ 1994 Evinrude 225 Vindicator and with me and my dad in there we saw 71-73 regularly....sold the boat a while back but GPS units dont lie? If i remember correctly we had an 8" plate and ran a 25p prop I THINK....could be wrong, both of us have had several boats since that one....hell the boat may have been a 1996 model. Either way, it would still scream for back in the day

I don't know the percentages but the boat ran these same numbers yesterday. Not trying to brag or nothing like that. normally I'm lucky to turn it over 3k.

I have tried just about all the props listed above but the virgin 26 raker is hands down the best for my boat. I have a 98 409 w/98 200 venom running 66-68 at 4 1/2 below pad loaded.

I guess all hulls are different its more the motor then anything else i believe i like the tirbo prop on mine now for my motor with the 409 dc its the fastest but when my new power head is done and in i expect i will have to start all over with propping the boat i am going to a modded 225 ho which the builder says will make from 260-270 prop hp my current powerhead only dynoed 205hp this past weekend so she's tired probably why i am not seeing better numbers woth the 25pitch props i have

With myself and a light load of gas I can get to 60 mph in under a .5 mile with my Ballistic 4 blade 25". I was getting 53 with a full load of gas and the wife on board.

    I'm running a 1992 Evinrude 200 XP.
