It sorted it out swimmingly. Our overlapping maps appear to have just combined with no issue. I do not own PC/pro so it's convenient that this works out.

8 digits is because of an old FAT file system limitation. Internally, the bird units might still have this limitation. I would not exceed 8 characters.

HB units run Linux, but I know you have a character limit for WP's and if you use special characters in those names it can mess with the unit's operation - might be the same for ACL files, but why chance it....

Ive got autochart pro and just recently read somewhere that it will pick up and map out weeded areas and weed lines... how would i go about doing this?

I just installed HB Auto Chart Pro and uploaded my .dat file, inserted ZLC and and updated LM SD card, all I can see is an outline of the area I recorded. When I put the ZLC in the Helix I can see all the contours. Why can't I see them on the computer in ACP?

Are you loading the card in AC PC and right clicking "map here"?

I did try that but at first I imported the dat file and found the green box and zoomed in on it. Nothing there but the outer border that I recorded. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong but not sure what it is. Thanks for the response.

DAT file???

If you're using ACL - you should be having ACU/ACD files - I copy the whole card to another drive and add the files & work from "local copy" until I am ready to write back to the card.

I think you'd want DAT files for conversion from a core unit recording...

I recorded from Screen Snapshot View to a regular SD card, imported the data from SD card to ACP, then inserted the ZLC and then updated LM SD card. Helix shows all the contours but ACP doesn't.

I'm going to try to get out this afternoon to get more recordings to see if I can get to work. It may have something to do with the card I was recording to or something I did wrong. I'll go with a small area to make sure I don't waste to much time and gas just to find out I'm doing something wrong.

I did get out today and recorded sonar and create a map that I can view on ACP. I don't know what happened the first time, either I didn't record, or I didn't stop recording before I shut down, or my SD card didn't save all the data.

You can collect data to process with Auto Chart two ways.
Auto Chart Live or the RECORD function.
The contour map results are the same, just depends on whether or not you want to instantly see a contour map being created.

Yes, the file types are different.
Auto Chart Live and Auto Chart are different files too.
