There have been three dual insole models made. Also there are pics are somewhere and we will try to dig one of those up.

Check the Bass Cat brochure and one was in there.

Found a video with a dual console. Looks a little too high, about 3 inches, imo

Smart boat makers better look at the 150hp market....
the economy is not good and has not been good...
I downsized in Sept 2011, those huge notes shrank, adding oil gone due to 4 stroke and so on...
sure got a lot better for me...
The Margay video is VERY impressive...
now I just learned my 17-8 TZX180 with the 150hp four is no longer made!
Huge mistake IMHO...open door to sell more Bass Cats...

It is no higher than the drivers side, though it is slightly offset due to the rod box offset to allow 8' rods on a 17' 7" boat. When you consider transom area, rear deck and nose tapering down to center somehow those 8' rods have to fit somewhere.

Margay models will sitin the high 60's to lower 70's depending on your loads.

Was reading the posts on page 2 about the rod lockers...now I don't have any 8 footers but I do have 2 that are 7'10" and they fit easily in the locker of my '96 Eyra and that hull is only 17'11". Is the Margay hull that much shallower? (or whatever the right term is)

I know, I guess my question was more is the forward part of the hull that much different in boats that are pretty much the same size 8 foot rods fit in the standard side rod locker on my old Eyra and on the new Margay you had to put them more towards the center and bump out the deck. Is there just more room under the deck in my boat? Just wondering. I've had a Sabre before too which is just a little bit longer and 8 footers would have never fit in there. I've been in a lot of 18' class boats and it just seems like the Eyra is bigger than them all even though it's not. Curious as to why you never kept that hull design going and went with the Sabre instead.

The old mid 90's Eyra ull is a true tournament warrior built when the 150 was the largest engine BASS allowed. Thus there was a market for the deeper big body hull. Once the engine power changed to 250 for both BASS and FLW the 18' market changed to volume and starter customers. People killed the Eyra then as demand slipped to zilch.

To this date it is one of our favorite tournament boats.

Thanks, didn't mean to for this thread to turn away from the Margay. I've always been a fan of smaller boats for a lot of reasons and it seems like the performance has gone to the wayside in a lot of them (other brands) so it's nice to see a sub 18 footer that can still give you that rush that we all like from time to time. It kind of reminds me of the old Stratos 273 Vindicator.

I admit I didn't like the layout of the new Margay when it first came out but it has grown on me and really does make a lot of sense. And looks like it will be a little rocket in a market full of lead sleds. The Margay will likely be the rig I buy when my truck is paid off in 2017 and will be my 4th boat and second Kitty. What speeds are people hitting with this rig and a 150hp now that it's been out a few years? And how's the chinewalking? My '95 Classic with 200hp and 25p Trophy didn't walk much at all so just wondering. Top speed was 67 and change but could have probably broke 70 with a 26 Tempest. The Trophy handled better than the two different generations of 25 Tempests I tried. Didn't have much time with them since they were borrowed but had a hydraulic plate to play with on the fly. The newer generation from the early-mid 2000's got me 68 and change but took my rpm over 6000 so backed off. What price does this rig go for nicely equipped?

Thought I would post a picture of my Margay. It's the perfect boat for me. Bought a 2015 prize boat and put an older motor on it to save money.
