Of course I talk to myself...sometimes I need expert advice.
Stopped by Sherms today to get a look at the Margay...the pictures dont do this boat justice. It has everything our Sabre has and more. Really impressed...go see it if you can!

Sherm,
That is one fine looking Bass Cat. I think that model is going to hurt some feelings with the Mercury 150 Pro XS on the back. That boat should carry the mail , so to speak.
When you are really very good at something you do, ever noticed how people seem to always find a way to come around to see how you do it?

Why does the front center box protrude out towards the seats? Just asking!
I figured it was a rod box but when I saw the pic of whole compartment it didnt look like a rod box.

We saw the boat at the dealer meeting!!! Great bang for the buck.
And just in case....we can help with financing. We have seen a couple rate changes that make it even easier.

This one isn't sold yet with the upgraded package and the 150 after all the chatter?
I run a Puma with the rough water at LOZ. I fished from 18 and 19 foot boats for many years. This is a great design on a smaller boat.

I'll admit my next boat I'd like for it to be a basscat P2, my dream rig, I just can't get past the chopped up interior of the Margay, gotta say I'd pass on this model. Not saying negative about quality of Basscat, I love most of their models but just can't get into this one.
I dont like the rod box sticking out like it does. I think they should have just made the front deck a little bigger.
big_o_tom,
There would not be enough cockpit room on this model if we brought the deck back. If we moved the offset forward then the 8' rods would not fit.
17'7" - 8' = 9'7" for the rest of the length not tampered. A foot in front of the rod tips means 8' 7" for the cockpit and rear deck. Not much room to spare on this one.
BCB
Hey BCB,
Could you design the port rod locker lid so that it extended back yet leaving the opening for the floor space? or even better, design in an optional deck extension insert for that uncovered space?
Pretty neat that someone who helped design the boat is actually commenting about it on bbc!
