Lithium Ion battery packs for your boat...........

Anyone considering Lithium Ion packs for your boat?

    http://lithiumion-batteries.com/RVDEEPCYCLE.aspx

Here's my thoughts. I currently have 2 Interestate batteries, deep cycle running trolling motor and electronics. Both weigh about 50.3lbs ea x 2 = 100.60 lbs and then an AGM, Road runner for the main motor (cranking) which weighs 59lbs.

    Total weight: 159.60 lbs.

I would be shaving only 75lbs b/c they are 70% lighter and charges in half the time. I would love try one of these but the prices are out of this world. Eventually, the prices on these things will go down.

    These L-ION batteries packs are not cheap, $249-$658 For 12V 10AH - 19AH and weighs 2lbs - 11lbs...........Wondering if 2, 12V 10AH - 19AH could convert into 24V and run my trolling & electronics all day?

    For 12V 100AH - 600AH (Recommended for marine, cars) its $1,299 - $5,499 and weighs 28lbs each.

Don't feel bad. A lot of boats are slow.

I talked to a rep at a show about these, he said the life for a boat trolling motor use is only 3-5 years, and at 1100.00 that is steep

I hear a lot of these pro bass guys use L-ION batteries. Then again, they have sponsors with an immense amount of $$$$$.

I have about 450 blue lithium ion batteries. I was thinking about welding them into a pack, which would be the equivalent 3, Interstate group 27 batteries but weighing less then 20lbs.

These batteries are about $8/each. Luckily, my brother gets them for free. I'll post some pix when I have time to complete the project. Unless, the price for these batteries come down.

What happens if one of those batteries quits working? The whole thing quits?

No. All will still work, just the number of amp hours is reduced.

I don’t see how 10 or 19 amp hour batteries are going to last more than 2hours in heavy current.

I don't see how someone trying to resurrect a thread from almost 8 yrs ago is relevant either.
