A trooper in tn told quote "up to nine your fine over nine your mine" with interstate speeds what they are now I don't know why you need detectors. Last summer we drove to Arizona from mississippi and the speed limit in west txt was 85. Traveling in the truck I was well under that. Point is if you are running over constantly 9 over you probably should get a ticket.

I have had good luck with whistler. My point on radar detectors is: if the cop is standing in my window asking me about a radar detector - I'm getting a ticket radar detector or no. With or without radar I have almost never gotten a warning. Not pretty enough I guess. But having radar has saved me from a ticket probably on a monthly basis. Totally worth it.

Not a toy for me but a tool. Keeps money in my pocket and points on my license. Paid for itself countless times.

Download the App "Waze" - probably as good if not better than a detector and it is also great GPS - cost is free

other people put reports of what the see - and app tells it is ahead

Escort live gives you the alerts... but also the radar, you can add Escort live to any RD. Also Waze is a joke and its only good for spotting cops. I run both and seeing Escort Live uses the WAZE updates. I go with live. Oh today. 15 police spotted alerts from the morons on WAZE that needed to report the same cop. Of course NO cop was there.

Seems people think the cops will give you 10 M P H. Generally they will give you 10 %, which is 63 in a 55 and 77 in a 70. Around here, 45 in a 35 zone will give you $130+, and 35 in a 25 zone will too.
My brother moved here about 2 years ago. I told him to slow down. He laughed and said "They'll give you 10". Two tickets later, he does the speed limit.

Valentine is great in rural America. Around town it's filtering sucks. New cars with adaptive cruise, lane warning features etc have made most detectors obsolete. Then bring laser to the picture and you're better off slowing down. your best cop detectors are your eyes, as pilots we are trained to scan instruments, for traffic etc....same thing works well in cars.

Also letting someone outpace my CTS-V has kept me out of trouble....feel sorry for the guy in the Maxima in Florida last month who was showing me what he had when he got stopped going 115+. My Valentine went off, but it wouldn't have mattered had I been the lead car....instant on radar wins again.

    peace,
    Don<><

Besides that, In Arkansas we are required to demonstrate that we can visually estimate the speed of a vehicle within a certain mph and that is all we need. We don't even have to use a radar or lock you on radar. I can see you speeding and visually estimate said speed and issue a citation. Come court time I can testify that I performed this in the academy and it can be documented. The next thing you know, the judge bangs the gavel and you're guilty.

Not a fan of visually estimated speeds; I know of cases here that have gone to Appeals court and have been overturned. I have no problem paying a fine if I'm caught by radar or laser but I would fight a visually estimated speeding ticket even if I was speeding.

Either way the less other people use radar detectors the happier I am.

Wow! I never knew there was such a thing; personally I don't think that makes sense. In Ontario the police would have to pace you, use radar or laser or aircraft. I would be going to court if the police officer couldn't prove the speed that I was going.

with all due respect, that's bs. One time in that kangaroo court and I would take my income to another state.
