Doug, the range line actually includes the water column. Should I subtract that for actual horizontal distance?

Got my new unit. Tried to update my product registration and couldn't as my serial number was not yet in the system. Called Customer service and they will take care of the registration.

In preparation for my update today I asked about loading the software onto the SD cards. I asked if the software updates for the unit, the I-pilot link, and the I-pilot remote could all be on the same SD care or if they had to be on seperate SD cards. I was told on Monday that the software for the unit had to be alone on as card and the two software updates for the Ipilot link and the remote could be on the same card. Today I was told they all had to be either on seperate cards or I would do one update, clean the card, download another update, load that into the unit and repeat for the last update.

Which customer service rep was right? What is they way you guys that have working units have been doing it.? Thanks.

The serial number thing happens a lot. Tells you that unit was just made.

I always do one update at a time, then format the sd card and load up the next one. I also restore defaults before and after just in case.

When you restore the defaults does your unit go into initial set-up mode where you have to enter units, time, water temp etc. before you can go any farther? Both units I had did that and the I would get to the feared Navionics CONFIRM screen and unleash the dogs of hell. Have to keep going through initial set-up?

Yes it does. If I remember correctly you can opt out of doing the initial set up so you can do the updating faster.

Love the pics....glad your enjoying your unit

Just fired up my new Onix on the lake today.

Internal GPS not found........good thing I know my way around the lake.

Called the customer service number that was provided on the manual....# did not work.

so now I sit here trying not to come unglued on the fact that it is very clear...Humminbird was not quite ready to release this unit.

...... I spent this week re-wireing my boat for just more aggravation.

No such luck.........unfortunately in my System info under internal GPS is says "not connected" . Honestly, don't they put these things through their paces before they box and ship. Apparently Not!

This I haven't seen on mine. Pull your nav chip and restore defaults and see what happens.

Pulled the chip and re-started unit on the water when I first noticed I wasn't getting any response from my GPS. When I first fired up the unit in the boat house with no chip installed during the week, I wasn't getting any GPS response. I didn't think much of it at the time because I was in the boat house, and figured the roof over my head was preventing a connection.

    Doug,
I want to replace my console 998c SI with an Onix 10 and put the 998 in the bow. My question is: Can I interface the two units to read both GPS and SI or will I have to Onix in both positions?

ONIX units only talk with ONIX units.
