Question need help 97 Stratos 201 pro elite

I have a new to me 97 201 pro elite . It has a 01 Johnson 225 HO with a 6 inch jack plate and a hole shot plate with a balanced and blue printed 26 raker by rich boger. My problem is my prop is slipping very bad . My speed is 60 GPS at 5700 wot and very high rooster tail at 5 inches below pad. What should I do . I would think this was a 70 mph + boat . All help will be appreciated!

A few things you need to do....remeasure your prop to pad. Then remeasure again. If you are indead 5in below pad, the propeller is suspect. I don't think Boger has been working propellers for some time now...just because it was once B&B'd doesn't mean it isn't WAY off now, which it sounds to be. It could be something as simple as the cup is washed out of the tips on the propeller. Depending on which lower unit you have on your HO, this will determine the prop to pad height you will need to run at.

Its obviously hard to diagnose something like this over the internet...looking at all evidence present....its a propeller issue. You have a good propeller for your setup but if you are 5in below it needs some major attention by a good prop guy. Rakers are easy to butcher up so I'd send it to someone that knows how to work one. Mark Croxton on the prop board can hook you up. The lightning gear case can be ran 3/4 inch higher than the magnum but either can run at 3.5 below pad or higher with a raker. If you do send your raker to mark i'd have him add some PVS holes to it. PM me any questions.

I have a '97 201 Dc Pro-Elite with an '01 225 HO Johnson. The prop I'm currently running is a 25" 4 blade Renegade. I like the 4 blade because of the often times rough water on Ky. Lake. It turns 5900 rpm and runs 72-73 mph. I cruise at 4000 rpm and run 50 mph. I have a 6" jackplate.
