    Question MK Fortrex Bushing Issue

    I have a 2010 101lb. Minn-Kota Fortrex, and I have put a ton of hours on it.

I have gone through probably 3-4 sets of the Circular Graphite/Plastic Pivot Bushings on the trolling motor mount arm every year for the past 2 years now.

Cannot seem to find a way to keep them from wearing out & breaking.

I've tried greasing them and changing the stowed resting height, with no help. The trolling motor is loud and loose, and I need to find some information on how to do a "tune-up" or at least fix the issue.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Putting a ton of hours on it, these bushings are going to wear out. Without looking at it, I can't tell you what to do to quieten the motor, but I can offer suggestions. Those would include making sure the brushes are good, the spacers in the nose cone are good, the armature bearing is good and repolish/smooth the com end of the armature. If the armature is showing wear around the seals, change it. reseal when you put it back together. On the mount, the bushings you are talking about, make sure the pivots are tight to the mount, there is plastic/nyliner bushings in the stabilizer arm that can be changed. Makes sure pins are OK and if there is slop where the pin rides in the plastic parts, change the plastic part to tighten it up.
