Jack Wingate's lunker lodge is pretty much midlake. You can run straight across the Flint River side and fish some of the bedding areas in the cut over to Spring Creek. That isn't so far and it is well-marked. Also, Mike Sloan who runs the lodge could probably point out some areas. Some of the big females will be on the bed back in the Silver Lake area that is in the cut over to Spring Creek. I have had more success up in Spring Creek by fishing the original creek channel, (not the boat highway). If you look carefully you can find the creek channel by noticing the lack of trees as they form a path that meanders back and forth near the boat highway. Be careful, lots of stumps and gators. You might try a Carolina rig thrown into the grass lines and dragged back for prespawn fish. Up in lily pads, look for pad stems, as that indicates a hard bottom and possible spawn area. Hard to beat a senko thrown up into the pad stems. Good luck.

Faceville landing near the Flint River bend is a good place for smaller boats, and has good fishing in that area.

with a small boat you will be better off on the spring creek area there are five ramps that you can use on the creek and good fishing depending on weather
