Well, I got into the smallies during my clubs tournament this past Tuesday. Only had time to take a pic of one fish and that was the first one. We got into a wolf pack of smallies and caught 9 as fast as we could throw back in. It was fast and furious. I lost a huge smallie at the boat probably close to 6lbs. However, this one weighed 4 even. By the way. I ended up with 13lbs and my partner had 11. The winning weight for the tournament was over 21 lbs.

Well, I may have had wheel issues after I left but Lake Eufaula (Alabama) was pretty good to us today. I probably caught or 7 largemouth and the big hybrid a week ago Tuesday. Eufaula this time of the year is normally pretty good for me. Have to admit though that all of the largemouth averaged about 2 lbs a piece. The big girls were just absent that day.

Fished Lake Martin in Alabama for three times since the Bassmaster Elite was held there earlier this month. The spots and largemouth are in pre-spawn and hanging off of points. I caught and released 15 to 20 each day I fished not including those that I lost for one reason or another, my partners caught as many as I did. Most were in the 2 to 3 pound range. Only problem was that I or my partners I fished with didn't catch anything over 3. Hoping that the big girls will start cooperating this week. However, here are a few pics of some of the fish I caught and released.

The Stripers and hybrids are running in the Chattahooche River and boy has it been fun. You have to fight the heavy current from the water coming over the spillways north of where I'm fishing and the high winds haven't made it too enjoyable either but if you work at it you can catch a lot of these fish. My fishing partner and I have been catching 10 to 20 each time we go however, for us it's only catch and release. Here are a couple of my big fish from yesterday. The biggest was 7lb 10 oz and the other was 4lb 2oz.

Yeah...Id hook up one of those Stripers and probably never think about a LM bass ever again. Those look like stout fighters.

They don’t jump but they are brutes. Constantly bulldogging. I lost one bigger last Monday because I had to much drag set. Not this time though. We were using squarebill crankbaits and both had my crankin rod bent double.

They’re not bad as the meat is firm. Still would rather have crappie though.

Yea, you catch one. And your like mad because you are targeting a different fish. But by the second or third one. Your like oh well. I’ll just fish for these. Because those few fish kicked your butt.

Only the backstraps are good. When you filet them, there's a red line down the side of the meat. Everything above the red line keep and everything below the red line (stomach meat) goes in the trash. Fun as hell to catch and will put up a much better fight than a bigmouth bass.

Put about 30 or so in the boat this morning, this one was the highlight of the morning. Wife's biggest one to date! She didn't stop smiling for hours!

I got my boat about 2 weeks ago and have taken her out both weekends. The first trip on the water got me this girlthen I went out Sunday morning from 6-10 on a local lake here near Tampa because I wanted to do some topwater and frog fishing and got an even dozen in 4 hours (before it got 90 degrees) I am loving having a boat again.
